The Louisiana Hawking Association has been reformed as of the spring of 2025, after more than 20 years of silence.. The Falconers in Louisiana have never left their hunting area’s, they’ve just been doing what a bird of prey does naturally, hunting solo, soaring through the sky or sitting on their perches listening to the wind blow through the trees, being silent and watching for prey like a Hawk..
The Louisiana Hawking Association consists of state licensed Falconers and persons interested in and who support preserving raptors, raptor habitat and birds of prey in the State of Louisiana.
We support all wildlife and are committed and dedicated to the preservation of Falconry as a hunting art and field sport, the conservation of birds of prey, and the education of our community regarding the vital role raptors play in our ecosystem.
We are ethical Hunters and Outdoorsmen and Women who conduct ourselves as professional stewards of the ancient art of Falconry.
The formation and use of this site is for the sole purpose of publishing of Falconry related information out to members, and to future members and interested residents all across the state of Louisiana and to serve as a point of contact for other non-resident falconer groups interested in joining or participating in Falconry events in the state of Louisiana..
This Site IS NOT and will not be a place to post your opinions, create or bring any unwanted drama to our group period.. This site is to promote Falconry, and Falconry education, the preservation of birds of prey and wildlife in general, not drama!
FALCONRY, (otherwise known as the “Sport of Kings”) by definition, is the hunting of wild animals in their natural state and habitat by means of a trained bird of prey.
Mission:
THE PURPOSE of the LOUISIANA HAWKING ASSOCIATION, SHALL BE TO PRESERVE BIRDS OF PREY AND TO ADVANCE THE ART AND PRACTICE OF FALCONRY BY:
The improvement of the abilities and qualifications of falconers through high standards, moral values and ethics, personal conduct, experience, and education. We take pride in serving and protecting the beautiful birds of prey our creator has entrusted to our care.
Most importantly to promote all things related to improving the conservation, safety, training, welfare and care of the Raptors we all love. To also establish new friendships, enjoy camaraderie and reunite with old friends, to share and spread the knowledge and practices of the customs and traditions of the ancient art of Falconry with our fellow members.
We also want to establish a strong working relationship with our local State and Federal Wildlife Agencies in order to facilitate and maintain effective communication pertaining to any regulation changes or updates. To assist and participate in any statewide wildlife events that may help to spread the knowledge and interest of Falconry to potential future apprentices and to further promote Falconry as a hunting field Sport.
We also aim to serve as the front line between any member of the general public genuinely interested in the Art of Falconry and the LDWF..
